Camping Adventure Pt. 2

16:00

Hey hey hey, if you missed part one you can find it right here.

Wed. 27th July: Photo shoots and Castles

On our last full day of the trip we visited Bolsover Castle (I know, we're a weird bunch of teenagers). It was beautiful. The architecture, the garden, the paintings, just everything about it was stunning. Harriet and I decided this was the perfect opportunity to have a photo shoot together, which was hilarious and probably slightly annoying for our other friends, but as the trip photographers I really think it was our time to shine.

One of my favourite parts of the day was when myself and Harriet found this little room with the most incredible painting on the ceiling, so we laid on the floor so we could admire it completely. It was so intricate that every time you looked at it you could find something new and interesting. One by one the others in the group spotted us and decided to join, and we must of laid there for a good half an hour while strangers gave us funny looks. But it was just lovely, art is amazing.

After we had finished at the castle we went to the nearest Wetherspoons for a meal out since it was our last night (and it is basically common knowledge that students love Wetherspoons). We had a great meal then headed back to the campsite, where we celebrated the last night by pretty much finishing all the drinks that we had and staying up till about 4am talking, which in retrospect wasn't a great idea.

Thu. 28th July: Hangovers and Parking Tickets

We woke up the next morning very hungover and much earlier than I would have liked, but we had to clear up, get the tents down and head out. It was a struggle. When we left the campsite we went into Nottingham because Alex had just got a house there for his second year of uni and we couldn't quite bare the thought of driving back yet. So, instead we sat around eating pizza, drinking fizzy drinks and watching Dance Moms.

Unfortunately, when we left we discovered that all three of the cars had got parking tickets and on top of that I got a fine because while driving, completely lost, around Nottingham I drove over a white line or something. Also the journey that was supposed to take around three hours took me six due to traffic and my hatred city driving, however despite the bad ending to the trip I had an incredible time.

So, thank you Harriet, Rachel, Ellie, Elle, Alex, Alex, Zach and Leo. You're a great bunch of people and I had an amazing time. Let's do it again next year!

Any recommendations for camping destinations?
